History

We are a family owned arable farm based in Essex specializing in contract farming. Although no longer the main base, the original family farm at Waltham Abbey is still occupied by Michael Davies. Michael’s father Edgar Walter Davies took on Sewardstone Hall Farm near Waltham Abbey in 1913. At this time he was selling milk and hay into London.

Michael took over the farm in 1950’s and the business continued to grow. Michael’s son Andrew took control of the business in the 1970’s then in October 1988 purchased The Hydes in Thaxted. The Hydes has become the main base that the business operates out of. Andrew created the first contract farming partnership in 2001.

In May 2009 Jeremy Durrant took over the management of the farm and the business has continued to grow adding more farming agreements. Andrew and his Father Michael still remain involved with the business today.
