Spring drilling is finished off with the Sugar Beet

Back in 2014 we stopped growing sugar beet as combined with the drop in price and the fact we didn't think that the crop suited what we were trying to do with our Controlled Traffic Farming system. Now just three years due to the loss of Oilseed Rape being a viable crop for us to grow we have decided to start growing it again on some of our lightest land. We used to have our own sugar beet drill but because this is a specialist piece of machinery we sold it back in 2014. Rather than purchase a new drill we have decided to use a contractor to come and drill the crop for us now.

After some rain showers throughout March, in the last week of the month the ground conditions dried out enough and the contractor came and drilled the crop into new perfect conditions.
